About Our Services
What is Massage Therapy?
Registered Massage Therapists in Ontario constitute a regulated health profession in much the same way that physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and chiropractors are regulated. The profession is governed by a Scope of Practice, which is defined as follows:
“The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body, and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain.” 1(footnote)
Within their practice, massage therapists will use a variety of procedures and modalities to provide services within the scope of practice. “Massage” is a general term describing one or several treatment modalities, and is often mistakenly used and confused with the practice of massage therapy.
Osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on form of manual therapy that focuses on improving the body’s structure and mobility.
It works with muscles, joints, connective tissues, and circulation to
help the body move more freely and function more efficiently.
Using precise manual techniques performed over clothing (without oils
or lotions), osteopathic treatment aims to reduce tension, improve
alignment, enhance circulation, and support the body’s natural ability
to self-regulate and heal. The approach is holistic, considering how
different systems of the body work together rather than treating only
one area in isolation.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic healthcare system that focuses on restoring balance within the body.
It is based on the concept of Yin and Yang and the smooth flow of Qi
(vital energy) through pathways known as meridians. When balance is
disrupted, symptoms and discomfort may arise.
Using therapies such as acupuncture and other TCM techniques,
treatment aims to support better sleep, healthy digestion, balanced
metabolism, stronger immunity, hormonal regulation, pain management,
nervous system support, and emotional well-being. Care is individualized
to address both symptoms and underlying patterns of imbalance.
Chiropractic care is a hands-on healthcare approach focused
on the relationship between the spine, nervous system, and overall body
function. Chiropractors assess and treat neuromuscular and
musculoskeletal conditions, with particular attention to spinal
alignment and joint mobility.
Through precise manual adjustments and other supportive techniques,
chiropractic treatment helps reduce pain, improve movement, and enhance
the body’s ability to function more efficiently in daily life.
Physiotherapy is a movement-based healthcare treatment that helps restore, maintain, and improve physical function and mobility. It focuses on how the body moves and works to address the underlying causes of pain, stiffness, weakness, or injury.
Through assessment, targeted exercises, hands-on techniques, and
education, physiotherapy supports recovery, enhances strength and
flexibility, and helps prevent future problems — promoting long-term
physical health and overall well-being.
